Mindful Making

Mindful making is the practice of learning a new skill and nourishing wellbeing while focusing on a floral project. It is a gift of spaciousness to offer yourself, a special activity to do with a friend, or to bring into an event.

Working with fresh flowers invites us to be present with the abundance of a moment in the season - the form, texture, brilliance in colour, tone and designs in nature.

With everlasting flowers, we experience the summer warmth and dreamy dusk light captured in the blooms, and through our hands we create a beautiful floral piece that offers colour, cheerfulness and hope on even the dreariest of days for years to come.

All sessions are an opportunity for us to drop into and nourish our stillness and creativity, and there will be some breathwork at the beginning and end. All materials and light refreshments are provided. Group size - maximum 8

Create your own hand-tied bouquet using fresh seasonal blooms and foliage from the cutting patch

Hand-tying a bouquet is a technique of pre-arranging flowers so that they can be placed directly into the vase with minimal effort. It transforms an awkward bunch of stems into a three dimensional creation that offers a beautiful vista from all angles.

You will have the chance to learn more about the flowers: their origins, medicinal or culinary uses, growing habits and how to care for them to maximize vase life.

This is an opportunity to explore the interplay of the blooms, foliage, and the space that weaves in-between. It is also a time to offer ourselves the gift of generosity, to follow our breathing and be truly present for ourselves and the wonder of fresh flowers.

£55 two-hour session: Sunday 10th September , Sunday 8th October 10.30am - 12.30pm SOLD OUT book here

Make an everlastings heart wreath with beautiful dried blooms

This session bookends the cut flower season, so comes at a time when we are mourning the end of the glory of summer, and when we are hopeful for colour and the uplift of spring.

There is something magical about working with dried flowers. They are fragile little beings that encapsulate a year of growing: the sunshine, rain, bracing winds and gentle breezes. These tiny florets invite us to be attentive to their delicate structures and ask to be treated with care. As we open up to their magic, we also start to sit alongside the part in us that yearns to be playful and creative, become alive to awe and wonder.

During this session you learn to work with dried flowers, grasses and foliage stems grown and gathered from the cutting patch to create your own floral heart using a 25cm diameter hazel frame.

£90 full day, including warming foods and drink to nourish us during the session: Sunday 5th November 11.00am - 5.00pm SOLD OUT book here

Winter and Christmas wreath making with dried and evergreen foliage

When the clouds sit low and heavily in the sky and the landscape is awash with muted colours, this is the time we need some cheer to greet the winter months with equanimity and grace.

Making a winter wreath offers us the chance to celebrate and work with the wonderful range of evergreen and dried foliage.

In this session you will learn to create a beautiful architectural delight using a willow frame, for your door or in your home.

This is a festive occasion, with mulled wine / apple juice, and wintry snacks: a wonderful way to create a floral pause for yourself or spend time with friends.
